Photojournalism is a particular form of journalism (the collecting, editing, and presenting of news material for publication or broadcast) that creates images in order to tell a news story. 


An Old Example of Photojournalism






The photograph that has become known as "Migrant Mother" is one of a series of photographs that Dorothea Lange made of Florence Owens Thompson and her children in February or March of 1936 in Nipomo, California. Lange was concluding a month's trip photographing migratory farm labor around the state for what was then the Resettlement Administration.


A New Example of Photojournalism
Protests continued to escalate today in Kiev when the demonstrators managed to successfully take down a fence outside Ukraine's parliament. Veterans of the Soviet war in Afghanistan and small business owners were among those voicing their opposition to proposed austerity measures.
